Focus of Attention

The reader’s eye normally follows a path from the upper left corner to the lower right area in the visual field. Thereby the look passes through the optical centre.
You should use this pattern when arranging map elements, so that the position of important objects on the map always corresponds to natural eye movements.

This example shows how the reader’s eye follows a path from the upper left to the lower right area in the visual field while passing through the optical centre.
