Summary
Therefore, the cartographer should know a great deal about the disciplines
covered by the maps in order to satisfy the user's demand correctly. It requires
knowledge, skills and experience to express the essential characteristics of spatial
data in terms of a map. Geographers represent only one group of map user. Scientists,
engineers, and social scientists etc, also see the map as a valuable way to organise and
express ideas. As a result of this, cartographers have to be sensitive to the mapping
needs of diverse fields (ROBINSON et al. 1995)
