As we have seen it in the lesson “Mapping with GIS and Cartographic Software”, the CAC software, which are the ideal and optimal software for high-quality mapping, do not allow the intrinsic use of GIS datasets. You need some special, and sometimes very expensive, plugins to allow spatial data files to be used to create maps inside these vector graphics programs. These plugins allow all cartographic tasks to be performed where they should be done, in a powerful graphics environment. Find below two examples of such plugins:
